A lot of people don’t do much more for their skin before going to bed than giving it a quick wipe with a washcloth. We don’t seem to seriously think about how we care for our skin and we think that just because our skin seems to be looking healthy right now, it will automatically stay that way.
It is actually a good idea to think about our skin and the skin care routine we use. There are many things we can do to eliminate wrinkles and blemishes and improve the tone of our skin. It is best to start a skin care routine early and follow it properly.
While sometimes our skin’s condition is just genetic and there are some things we can’t do much about, there are many problems we experience with breakouts and blemishes that can be avoided with a good skin care routine, and with making sure this routine is appropriate for our face and our skin in particular.
Some people are too harsh or rough when they cleanse. They might use cleansers or soaps which strip the natural moisturizers and oils. These people might think that if their skin is breaking out, they have to remove as much skin oil as possible. The truth is that this brutal treatment is very harmful to the skin. Over-cleansing can even cause breakouts, rather than discourage them. If you want to follow a good skincare routine, this means using products designed for the face and for your individual skin type and not being too rough or harsh. The skin on the face is delicate, no matter whether it is dry, oily, combination or normal.
It is important to moisturize your face on a regular basis. People with oily skin might consider this step unnecessary but there are a lot of places on the face without oil glands near them. These are the places where wrinkles develop and include around the mouth and eyes.
Even if you have oily skin you should make regular moisturizing, especially in these areas, part of your skin care routine. If you fail to moisturize you could actually be causing your body to produce more oil as it does this when it feels the skin is too dry - those oil glands work harder to produce more oil and this clogs your pores.
You may find that your skin becomes less oily with regular moisturization ” this is because you are no longer stressing this sensitive skin, causing it to overproduce the skins natural oils. This means healthier skin for you.
No skin care regimen can guarantee that you will never have a blemish or develop wrinkles eventually. Both of these things are simply a fact of life. Even the best skin care cant prevent these forever.
A good skin care regimen practiced regularly, however, will keep your skin looking radiant and healthier for a much longer time than if you merely left your skin unattended to. Think of it as exercise for your skin!
